Sometimes I Forget That I’m Alive

17099096b7e9b0b36a75a7b238aca66b_largeI get caught up thinking about other’s thoughts. It’s not about what others think about me, just what they’re thinking in general. Thinking amazes me. Every body is doing it, yet everyone does so differently. The problem is that it reaches a point of distraction. I get caught up thinking about the world that I lose my sense of placement. I forget that I am currently what exists. I am alive; a part of the present and everything in it, capable of interacting with any body and experiencing what is out there. The trees are amazing, the sun is incredible, and all that surrounds me is beautiful.

The Other Night

Night_spectre_of_the_brocken

We cross through the tunnel at 12:01. My dog and I enjoying the greatness of the night; him with his head out the window, me with my mind. The cool breeze coming in, smelling of beautiful mist and reinforcing why it is that I love to drive. I’m in the zone, feeling the vibrations of the wheels rolling on the pavement, the soft whirring of the engine as we cruise down the street. Almost home. We come to a stop at the corner; the traffic light paints the street red, and just like the children’s game, nothing moves. The constant tick-tick-tick-tick of the blinker as I look both ways before making a right is the only sound around. I proceed to make the turn and now the sweet sound of the steering wheel gliding through my hands fills me with calmness. I don’t know what it is but that sound has always soothed me; leather on skin, oh what a great combination.

Instantly that feeling is gone, but the stillness that blankets the neighborhood remains. Standing in front of me, waiting just down the road, is the angel of death. Dark and cloaked the way it’s always described, but much greater, much larger, making it’s presence unavoidable. I look to the passenger seat and see Timmy staring forward with intent, focused on what lies ahead.

“Well, let’s see what it wants”

Understanding Life: God

Fractal_Stock_2_by_Moonchilde_Stock

Growing up I was raised as a member of the Catholic church, attended mass every Sunday, and went through the processes of baptism and first communion. I mostly viewed all this as a way to spend quality time with my family, but it did open my eyes to great powers. It taught me the power of  hope and faith; the way it allowed those who had reached a dark abyss to manage to turn their lives around. These people told their stories with great passion, great sincerity, and in the end the message was always the same; “I thank God for showing me the path and giving me the strength I needed to fight for my life”. My question was always the same as well, “Who is God”?

Picking a Bone With Panhandlers

Beggar_with_a_Lyra,_by_Svishchev-Paola_1900s

I believe my scent attracts panhandlers. I don’t know what it is, but maybe my Old Spice deodorant gives them the sense that i’m overflowing with money. Truth is, i’m not. I don’t really mind people coming up to me and asking for money, because I see this as a chance to get to know somebody new and have a nice conversation. Apparently most of them don’t seem to see it that way.

Let me tell you about my most recent encounter:

The Voyage To Understanding Life And Why I Decided To Take It

Road_to_the_Universe_by_BabyNoob

There is one idea that has stuck with me since the day I learned about it: What we are is an incarnation of the fabric of life with the ability to consciously create, question, and control our reality.

Essentially, everything in the universe is connected, and all the parts are affected and influenced by one another. Our concept of having different realities, different life experiences, is caused by our ability to change our perception of the information around us. There are no limits to how far we can travel, to what we can create, and who we can become, for these are false boundaries created by the same mechanism which allows us to explore the deepest corners of the unknown.
