Benign Laughter is the working brainchild of Ivan “Mr. Random” Martinez and Lawrence “The Puzik” Kotovets. With one main goal driving their creative force: To spread the knowledge of how you can become a better person.
The creation of Benign Laughter
A thought came across Ivan’s and Lawrence’s mind. “What is a worthwhile life?” They thought about it and came back with an answer: “To put smiles upon each others face, create love in everyone’s heart, and summon the warmth of laughter from deep within ourselves.” What they are speaking of is: There is an immense joy people receive from being a positive influence in other people’s lives. The question now became: How can we help make other people better? The conclusion we came to is that to be able to better the lives of others you must focus on your personal development first.
This is how Benign Laughter came to be. This blog features knowledge on becoming a sexy beast, philosophical ideas to expand your mind, inspirational poems, scientific inquiries into understanding the physical world, a new library of music to share with your soul and friends, the latest research in psychology, the coolest new gadgets, to learning public speaking, gastronomy, travel, fashion, and everything else that will make a positive influence in your life so you can make a positive influence in someone else’s life.

Hi everyone,
Let’s start with the basics: I am a college student studying Human Development (Biological, cognitive, and sociocultural aspects of the human developmental process. I am 6 ft. 1in., have green/brown eyes, live in the beautiful Los Angeles, and can cook a delicious brisket.
I have spent the last couple years researching all I could about nutrition, and I still do currently. From a lifetime of being overweight I was able to change my life around: I lost 50 lbs, gained more energy, feel better, and just enjoy life more. I took an incredible journey on road to health, stopping by the: vegetarian, vegan, raw vegan, and paleo camps to understand the science and sociology of nutrition. Don’t worry I’ll be putting some posts up about how you can turn your life around too.
It is a passion of mine to learn new hobbies, that I thought I would never be able to learn. I never though I would be able to get fit and stay healthy. I thought I would never be able to pick up a musical instrument, because I never played one as a child. I thought I would never be able to deliver speech’s as I have as I struggled with speech impediments in childhood. And I never thought I would be able to dwell into the sciences, for I used to believe that science is only for the smart people. Once I realized that my beliefs were the only thing keeping me from do things I wanted, I started working on a framework for myself on how I can learn and anything. And throughout this blog I’ll show you how you can learn anything you want as well.

About Me – Ivan
Hello, as I write this I am currently 19 and happy to be living in California. I have a fascination with the mind which probably began around my elementary school years when I truly encountered optical illusions and magic tricks, and I have loved them ever since. I didn’t fully comprehend why I was so intrigued by them until recently. Optical illusions are awesome because with such small tricks or changes to an image they have the power to confuse such a powerful mechanism, that is our brain; magic tricks because there’s that sense of mystery, of fantasy, and of hope that one day that trick might become reality.
At the moment I’m a college student and work at Jersey Mike’s (it may not be the most exciting job but I’ve learned to make some mean sandwiches). Growing up we didn’t travel much but I’m striving to change that and fully experience the world, starting with my beautiful hometown of Los Angeles. Nature is so captivating because of its blend of sophistication and simplicity that creates such immense elegance. This appreciation for wildlife goes hand in hand with the thrill I get from learning, because staying open-minded and grateful has let me realize that there is so much out there that’s yet to be discovered. Learning has always been a passion of mine; it gives off a rush when knowledge is acquired because of the new possibilities it creates and the creativity it fuels. Reading became my hobby from a very young age and one that I’m glad I have continued following. I look forward to searching for more books and I’ll be happy to a share any new findings.
I cannot sum up everything about me in a few paragraphs( and I’d be quite sad if I was able to) so I’ll end my introduction here.
